SUMMARY This position is responsible for performing administrative tasks and supporting daily activities. They assist in updating employee records, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and gaining exposure to various HR functions like recruitment, and employee relations. This role provides an opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience and insights into HR operations.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

• Create electronic versions of s.
• Assist in the development/creation of training documents.
• Assist with duties provided by Sr. HR Generalist, Labor Relations Manager and HR Director.
• Schedule and confirm interviews with candidates.
• Processes new hires for HBE which includes coordinating drug screens, background and reference checks, new hire orientation, filing, setup of employees in Workday, completion of I-9 forms and E-Verify to comply with Federal standards.
• Establish and organize the maintenance of department records, ensuring complete accuracy and confidentiality.
• Participate in organizing company events and careers fairs.
• Develop industry knowledge by researching agreements and arbitration decisions to support Labor Relations Manager with interpreting collective bargaining agreements.
• Collaborate with Labor Relations Manager to resolve labor disputes through grievance procedures, including the research and writing of responsive letters and formal briefs in support of SMC's position.
• Provide support for labor claims and assist in local labor agreement negotiations.
• Build relationships with employees in Operations and company leaders.
• Seek opportunities to further employee engagement, specifically with a heavily unionized workforce.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Labor Relations.
• Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Must be able to frequently remain in a stationary position. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Occasionally moves about the manufacturing facilities. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. WORK ENVIRONMENT - Work 75% of time in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Work the remaining 25% of time in manufacturing environment. While performing duties in manufacturing environment, employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic chemicals or risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration. The noise level in the manufacturing environment is usually moderate.
