Job Description The Scribe is responsible for capturing accurate and detailed documentation of the patient visit into the EMR in a timely manner. Additional duties include assisting the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures, directing patient flow, inventory management, and ensuring site lab compliance with Department of Health regulations. The position offers exposure to the healthcare profession and can serve as a foundation for future medical careers. Essential Functions / Responsibilities Assist the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures (e.g., urine drug screens, lab processing, fit testing, rapid point‑of‑care testing, UA, EKG, procedure set‑ups). Ensure Department of Health (DOH) compliance of site lab and exam rooms, including logbook maintenance, checking for expired medications and supplies, and proper handling of specimens. Escort patients to exam rooms, x‑rays, or other facilities on site as needed. Maintain a quick pace in a fast‑paced urgent care facility for the duration of a scheduled shift (8–12 hours excluding meals/breaks). Facilitate necessary diagnostic tests (e.g., CT, MRI, ultrasounds) and referrals to medical specialists via Aftercare. Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician guidance. Help maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment and ensure the site is fully stocked with supplies. Provide compassionate care to patients. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (undergraduate degree a plus). High attention to detail, strong organizational, problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; English speaking and writing required. Knowledge of third‑party payor requirements preferred. Strong aptitude for detail and ability to work independently. Comfortable working in a continuously evolving environment. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire. Ability to lift light to moderate loads and maintain a quick pace during shifts. Flexible with full‑time schedule, including weekend availability. Bilingual language skills are required or preferred based on site location. Compensation Pay Rate: $18.75 per hour. Salary determinations are based on experience, location, and additional factors.
