Dietary Supervisor

Posting Details The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six divisions including inpatient psychiatric care, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. It serves over 250 inpatient residents and 400 outpatient clients monthly, with over 600 employees delivering high-quality treatment. Salary Hourly: $21.96 – $32.94 Annual: $45,680 – $68,520 (Pay Band C5) Why the Job Exists The supervisor ensures the Dietary department operates productively, complying with federal and state regulations, and maintains safe food handling, storage, and preparation standards. How it Gets Done Conducts training of personnel and recommends selection of applicants. Provides career coaching, mentoring, and arranges outside training opportunities. Prepares menus, food budgets, and requisitions. Maintains food and equipment inventory, ensuring sanitary kitchen and dining areas. Manages all aspects of food service operations. Customers Provides meals to all patients admitted in the hospital division of NMBHI. Ideal Candidate Experience in food preparation, portioning, and serving meals promptly and sanitarily. Knowledge of food handling, sanitation standards, and infection control for safe temperatures and cleanliness. Professional and respectful interaction with patients, residents, clients, and coworkers. Ability to create schedules, supervise staff, complete tasks efficiently, and maintain dependable attendance. Minimum Qualification High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) months of directly related food preparation experience. Alternatively, a combination of education from an accredited college or university and direct experience totaling three (3) months may substitute. Employment Requirements Valid Driver’s License. Defensive Driving Certificate. Working Conditions Kitchen and food service environment with exposure to heat, noise, and food odors. Requires standing, walking, frequent lifting, strict food safety and sanitation standards. Work includes weekends, holidays, and varying shifts. Hours: 11:30am – 7:30pm.
