Go to our website, Foresight Group, to learn more about the history of our company!The Bindery Operator must have experience on the following equipment: Saddle Stitcher, Folder, Guillotine cutter, Trimmer-stacker, Padding Machine, Drill, Shrink Wrapper, and Creaser/Folder, as well as package/box for customer pick or delivery. The Bindery Operator continues to learn upon assignment to set-up and operate the lines of associated equipment to become a more skillful and versatile operator. Other schedules may be available depending on candidate and company needs.Location: Foresight Group Lansing -2822 N Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Lansing, MI 48906Compensation & Benefits:A highly competitive salary commensurate with experienceWork environment that is climate-controlled, clean and orderly, and promotes safety100% Company-Paid Health, Dental, Vision, Life, and Long-Term Disability PremiumsUp to 13 days of PTO within your first year, as well 6 Paid Holidays401(k) with company match6 Weeks of Paid Parental LeaveEssential Duties & Responsibilities:Operate machines such as guillotine cutter and saddle stitcherAcquire the job folder and review it for the specifications or special instructions that may impact the operation or setting up of the machine or equipmentFollow routine procedures in the setting up and in the operation of the machine or equipmentReview the quality of the product continuously to meet the standard that is requiredMaintain the required records with quantities, quality, and any other required informationCross-train and learn the lines of associate equipmentAssist in the training of employees new to the specific linesMaintain both the bindery equipment and immediate areaReport unusual conditions or circumstances to the supervisor or the person in chargeWork on job assignments in other manufacturing areas as neededComply with all OSHA safety requirementsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.Trade School or Co-op experience in a related field highly preferred1-3 years of Bindery Operator experience preferredMechanical skillsMachine set up and operation, Saddle stitcher and foldersSet up and fine tune of pocket to ensure minimal drops and stops during operationSet and monitor calipers to ensure quality of finished productChange and adjust trimmer knivesInspect working parts and be able to recognize those that need replacement.Communication skillsUse of measuring devicesRecord dataGeneral computer usage to prepare delivery slips, carton labels and log into software for job costing and time trackingUse of manual and battery powered pallet jackPhysical Demands and Work Environment:May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period.Comfort performing tedious tasks – able to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time.Requires ability to stand for extended periods, handle paper, reach forward, bend and lift boxes or cartons that can weigh up to 50 pounds.Exposure to potentially hazardous conditions.
