Friends Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is seeking a motivated and collaborative Emergency veterinarian to join our growing team. We are a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Bucks County, privately owned by local veterinarians, and we are searching for highly motivated veterinary team members. Our hospital provides advanced emergency and specialty care. Our emergency veterinarians work closely with specialty and critical care teams to deliver comprehensive, high-quality treatment for complex medical and surgical cases. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and make careful, accurate decisions in urgent and emergent situations. The candidate needs to work well independently and collaborate well with their team. Applicants should have excellent communication skills and a thoughtful bedside manner. Key Responsibilities Perform emergency examinations and triage patients presenting with urgent or life‑threatening conditions Stabilize critically ill or injured patients through rapid diagnostics and treatment Develop and implement diagnostic and treatment plans for emergency cases Perform emergency procedures such as wound management, thoracocentesis, abdominocentesis, urinary catheterization, and CPR Interpret diagnostic tests, including bloodwork, radiographs, ultrasound, and point-of-care testing Communicate with referring veterinarians looking for our support or to transfer care Collaborate with specialty services (ie, surgery, internal medicine, neurology, critical care) for advanced patient care Provide ongoing monitoring and medical management for hospitalized patients Work closely with veterinary nurses to ensure efficient patient care and treatments Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and emergency outcomes Foster and maintain highly collaborative relationships with referring veterinarians Maintain detailed and accurate medical records Participate in case rounds and collaborative discussion of complex cases Contribute to mentorship and clinical development of veterinary nurses and interns when applicable Remain current with advances in veterinary surgery through continuing education and professional development Provide continuing education to area clinicians and/or their support staff at least once annually Requirements Education & Credentials Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school Completion of a rotating internship or equivalent clinical experience is preferred Active veterinary license (or eligibility for licensure) in Pennsylvania Skills & Qualifications Ability to triage and manage urgent and life‑threatening cases Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision‑making skills in high‑pressure situations Competent in performing emergency medical procedures and critical patient stabilization Ability to efficiently and effectively communicate with both clients and veterinary team members Capable of working effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented hospital environment Compassionate approach to client communication during stressful situations Actively seek and incorporate feedback to improve performance Respond positively to coaching and direction Commitment to patient safety, high‑quality care, and continued professional growth #J-18808-Ljbffr
