These positions will be located at any of the following parks; Lake of the Ozarks State Park - 403 MO-134, Kaiser, MO 65047 (Miller County), Cuivre River State Park - 678 State Route 147, Troy, MO 63379 (Lincoln County), Bennett Spring State Park - 26250 Hwy 64A, Lebanon, MO 65536 (Laclede County), and Harry S. Truman State Park - 28761 State Park Rd West Warsaw, MO 65355 (Benton County). Housing is not available for these locations at this time.
Law enforcement in the park setting combines the safety and protection of park visitors and staff with the scenic outdoors.
- Enforce Missouri state laws and state park rules and regulations by use of citations, warnings, and custodial arrests.
- Patrol assigned areas within a state park/historic site.
- Provide security and protection for property, visitors, and staff.
- Provide assistance to visitors as needed.
- Respond to and/or conduct investigations, make arrests, seize property or contraband and prepare related reports and forms.
- The applicant must have a Missouri Class A Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification, or P.O.S.T. certification in another state that can be transferred to Missouri, or currently in a police academy and will have the P.O.S.T. certification upon successful completion.
- Criminal Law: Knowledge of state and Federal criminal laws, including procedures, regulations, guidelines, and precedents related to admissibility of evidence and prosecution.
- Arrest: Knowledge of the laws, principles, and procedures used in apprehending a criminal suspect, including polices for pursuit and proper use of force and capture such as Miranda rights.
- Personnel Security and Safety: Knowledge of methods and controls of personnel, public safety, and security operations; investigation and inspection techniques; or rules, regulations, precautions, and prevention techniques for the protection of people, data, or property
- Public Safety and Security: Knowledge of military, weaponry, and intelligence operations; public safety and security operations; occupational health and safety; investigation and inspection techniques; or rules, regulations, precautions, and prevention techniques for the protection of people, data, and property
- Restraint and Self-defense: Knowledge of techniques and methods used to restrain hostile individuals, including the models and guidelines on appropriate level and nature of force for self-defense.
- Ability to initially and annually demonstrate the level of physical fitness deemed necessary to perform the essential functions of the job through successful completion of a fit-for-duty assessment. - Ability to pass a background investigation administered by Missouri State Parks
- Ability to pass a medical examination, a visual examination with eyesight corrected to 20/40, and a psychological evaluation as prescribed by the Missouri State Parks after a conditional offer of appointment is made
- Possession of a valid Missouri vehicle operator's license appropriate for vehicle assignment
- Must live within one hour of the assigned park location.
