Position Chief Inspector (Hudson Valley / Catskills) Location Mountainville, NY Job Information Job ID: View phone number on click.appcast.io Description Tectonic is seeking a full‑time Chief Inspector for upcoming projects in the Hudson Valley and Catskill areas, including Rockland, Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Ulster, Columbia, Sullivan and Delaware Counties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions of the Chief Inspector position include supervising, coordinating, and tracking the progress of construction projects, assisting and advising inspectors regarding project management, construction, and inspection issues, alerting supervisors of major or consistent discrepancies, preparing construction documents and records, complying with budget standards, performing inspections as needed, and providing assurance to clients that the project has been constructed in accordance with the contract documents and all related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil, highway, or relevant engineering field, with 1 year in a supervisory capacity. Must possess and maintain one of the following: Valid NICET IV Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction; Valid NY Professional Engineering license; or other suitable combination of education, training, or experience. NYSDOT experience or other similar public agency or DOT experience is required. Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, and outstanding interpersonal skills. Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and recommendations concerning construction issues and to establish and maintain project records. Must have the ability to obtain OSHA Safety Certifications as required. Understanding of fundamentals of necessary inspection codes and requirements to carry out testing; detail‑oriented. Valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel to and within project sites; regular daily travel is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the essential functions of this position, it is frequently necessary to: Assume a stationary position. Handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and equipment relevant to the job. Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using company email and telephone systems. Move around on the job site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or a ladder, and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods. Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections. Good visual skills, including focused depth perception. Regular daily operations of a motor vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time. Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements, US DOT Regulations, and/or company policy. The employee may occasionally be required to operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and copy machines. The physical demands described above are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. PAY RANGE

Pay Range: $40.00 – $75.00 per hour
