Political Science Instructor, Part-time Adjunct Pool, Inmate Education Program Opportunity Salary: $67.00 per hour. Hourly rate may vary based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Job Type: Temporary – Adjuncts Location: CC - East Kern, Edwards/California City/Tehachapi (Rising Scholars), CA Responsibilities Provide instruction in a full range of Political Science courses. Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Science department. Maintain subject matter currency, develop and revise curriculum, and use computer and multimedia technology. Engage collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities. Use multiple teaching methodologies and teach at other campus sites, including day, evening, or weekend classes, large classes, distance learning classes, and classes for incarcerated students. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Political Science, Government, or International Relations. OR – Bachelor’s degree in any of the above fields AND a Master’s degree in Economics, History, Public Administration, Social Science, Sociology, ethnic studies, JD, or LL.B. OR – Possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Political Science at the California Community College level, or equivalent qualifications. AND – Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Knowledge & Abilities Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population. Work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals. Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities. Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Maintain subject‑matter currency. Assess student learning outcomes. Have knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program. Commit to the California community college mission.
