Travel Surgical Tech/ORT - Certified Surgical Technologist/CST

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a CVOR position requiring NBSTSA certification and confidence in open heart and vascular surgical cases.

Job Details

• CVOR unit averaging 6 cases per day,
• Patient population includes open heart and vascular surgical cases,
• Weekday shift hours of 06:00-14:30 with weekend call required,
• 26-week assignment length,

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical technology role,
• NBSTSA certification required (the only certification recognized in South Carolina),
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association,
• License required if applicable,
• Ability to perform confidently in open heart and vascular surgical cases,

Additional Information

• Work under the supervision of a surgeon to support safe and effective invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures,
• Ensure availability and preparedness of OR rooms, supplies, and equipment,
• Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment with working knowledge of each device,
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping according to department standards,
• Perform instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator,
• Participate in surgical site and patient verification during time out procedures,
• Maintain strict sterile technique throughout procedures,
• Prepare and pass off specimens as appropriate,
• Assist with lifting, turning, and positioning patients using proper body mechanics,
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, including terminal cleaning and instrument preparation for sterilization,
• Use standard precautions and appropriate PPE when handling hazardous substances, blood, and body fluids,
• Demonstrate competency in emergency management, infection control, communication, and pre/intra/post procedural patient care
