Expanded Duty Dental AssistantRutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant within the Rutgers Health University Dental Associates (RHUDA) at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:Chairside assists providers during standard and complex procedures.Anticipates the providers needs during procedures. Hands instruments to provider during examinations and treatment of patients.Manages post-operative patient care.Monitors anesthesia patients in recovery, when necessary.Serves as sterilization assistant. Cleans and sterilizes room after each use; prepares treatment room based on scheduled procedures.Seats patients, adjust chairs, drapes patients with protective covers, communicate patient concerns with staff nurse and/or treating provider.Knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures as established by Rutgers Health.Lays out dental instruments and supplies. Develops and mounts x-rays. Operates suction equipment. Mixes filling and impression materials.Maintains all dental equipment to ensure they are fully operational pre and post procedures.Works closely with office staff and providers to ensure accuracy in patient records (individual, daily, monthly and yearly). Files all records.Contacts patients for appointments personally, by telephone and mail. Charts examinations under the direction of the oral surgeon.Maintains inventory, restocks equipment and supplies to ensure efficient clinic operations.
