Summer Camp Program Aide

Job Title

The purpose of this position is to create a safe enjoyable and enriching experience for children participating in our summer day camp program of the Tri-Cities Corps.

The staff members play a crucial role in facilitating a variety of activities, ensuring the well-being of campers, fostering a positive and inclusive environment. By engaging with campers, promoting teamwork, and adhering to safety guidelines, providing spiritual development, social direction, and educational reinforcement while at the same time utilizing recreational activities.

Essential duties and responsibilities include demonstrating a passion for working with children in a learning environment, assisting in teaching music instruments and music theory, assisting staff with supervision, guidance and caring for children in an educational, enrichment and recreational setting, providing encouraging instruction to students during group activities, assisting staff with the supervision of safety of campers during arrival, dismissal, and transition periods, assisting the Director of Group Leader in the planning, teaching of lessons, homework support and activities, assisting in maintaining discipline and encouraging children to follow rules, assisting in general set up and clean up of program area and with the closing/opening of the facility, assisting staff with field trip arrangements, and maintaining a safe environment.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other qualification requirements include knowledge of music instruments, ability to teach music instruments and music theory, ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, valid California Drivers' License, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and basic desktop publishing computer programs.

Physical requirements include ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis, ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects, ability to reach overhead, ability to operate telephone, ability to lift up to 25lbs, and ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.

Preferred education: High School or Equivalent or better.

Preferred experience: Teaching music and music theory.

Required license: Driver's License.
