Safety Manager - OHSA 500

We’re looking for a driven Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives across heavy civil construction projects. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys building strong teams, and is passionate about creating a culture where safety comes first. The Safety Manager position is primarily field-based. The individual will spend approximately 70 % of their time in the field supporting project sites and about 30 % in the office handling administrative and coordination responsibilities. The company provides a truck with a gas card, a cell phone, and an iPad for business travel. This person will work closely with the current Safety Coordinator to support and strengthen our safety program across all projects. What You’ll Be Doing Lead and manage company-wide safety programs and compliance Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across active projects Deliver engaging safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks Partner with project teams to ensure safe and efficient execution Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventative actions Oversee subcontractor safety compliance and job-specific safety plans What We’re Looking For OSHA 500 Certification (required) Experience in heavy civil construction Strong leadership, communication, and team training experience Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards What Makes This Role Stand Out Opportunity to lead safety across multiple high-profile projects Strong mix of field leadership and strategic impact Collaborative, fast-paced environment with growth potential Travel Requirements The Safety Manager may need to travel regularly between project sites, which may involve commuting or staying overnight for inspections or meetings. Educational and Experience Requirements OSHA 500 Certification Certified OSHA training: Competent Person for Excavation and Confined Spaces Experience in heavy civil construction, including roadway and highway (must); airport work is a plus Experience with DOT, federal entities, and government is a plus Experience in traffic control planning Software Office 365 Suite. Cloud-based applications such as OneDrive, Dropbox, and SiteDocs. Construction Experience Experience in the construction industry, specifically heavy civil work.
