Occupational Therapist (OT)

SIGN-ON BONUS!! Newport News, VA This is a full-time Occupational Therapist salaried position. To be considered, you must have a valid and active OT license in the state of VA. Pay : $105,000 to $125,000 per year Job Details Overview As a Full-Time Occupational Therapist (OT) with Personal-Touch Home Care, located in Newport News, your responsibilities include planning, organizing, and delivering home care services across Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg, Smithfield, York County, and Gloucester. You will evaluate patients' functional status, assess home environments, develop treatment programs, and maintain clinical records. Workforce capacity evaluations may be performed for patients returning to work.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluates patient’s functional status and home environment for hazards, identifies equipment needs, and participates in developing the care plan. Performs work capacity evaluation for patients planning to return to work and refers to specialized training if needed. Develops a treatment program, establishes goals for improved function, and communicates the plan to referring physicians and other professionals. Educates patients on new or retrained daily activities, equipment usage, and adaptive technologies. Fabricates splints, instructs on prosthetic/orthotic devices, and maintains appropriate clinical records. Maintains communication with other personnel to coordinate care. Attends and contributes to in-service training, case conferences, and other meetings. Identifies patient and caregiver needs for additional home health services and refers as appropriate. Instructs family/caregiver and health personnel in treatment regimes when indicated. Participates in discharge planning for patients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state of practice. Graduate of an occupational therapy program accredited by ACOTE. Eligible to hold, or has held, the NBCOT entry-level certification. Preferred: At least 2 years of experience as an OT; home health experience preferred. Good verbal and written communication and organization skills. Strong computer skills; familiarity with Allscripts/NetSmart preferred.
