Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 3 years in PACU required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, PALS Must-Have: Strong ophthalmology background Description: This is a position for a Registered Nurse specializing in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The role is located in an outpatient setting. Experience in Phase I and II PACU is required for this position. Knowledge in ophthalmology is a must. Scheduling preferences can be considered but are not guaranteed. Post-shift call is required with varying frequency depending on department need. The patient ratio in this unit is 1:2. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of PACU experience. Experience with the electronic medical record system is required. Working knowledge of airway assessment and ambulatory care is essential. This position involves medication reconciliation and discharge education. Candidates will need to manage pain assessments and recognize dysrhythmias. Experience with monitored anesthesia care (MAC) is important. Familiarity with various surgical procedures, including cataract extractions, is necessary. Emergency medication knowledge is also required. Candidates should be prepared for ongoing patient assessment and monitoring. Overall, the candidate should have strong clinical skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
