Contract | Full-Time | Days | 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM); night shifts may also be available (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to ED hold patients awaiting inpatient bed placement, with a primary focus on medical/surgical telemetry patients
• Read, interpret, and monitor cardiac telemetry strips independently — no monitor technician is available on unit
• Titrate and adjust cardiac drips (including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone) per physician orders and established parameters
• Assist with ED patient support tasks such as vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration as needed (will not serve as primary RN for ED patient assignments)
• Float to med/surg, telemetry, overflow units, and other campus emergency departments as needed
• Participate in weekend rotation (expected 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule) and holiday rotation with permanent staff

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of Arizona
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum of 2 attempts permitted; failure results in a 6-month ineligibility period)
• Must pass a Simulation Lab assessment on day one of orientation (failure results in a 6-month ineligibility period)
• Strong cardiac telemetry background with a minimum of 2 years of experience; must demonstrate ability to titrate cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience managing ED hold or overflow patient populations
• Familiarity with common titratable drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with self-scheduling flexibility
