Finishing Technician / Sprayer

The Finishing Technician / Sprayer at Astound is responsible for executing high-quality finishing processes within the Paint Department, including surface preparation, spray application, and equipment maintenance. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical expertise, and a focus on quality control to ensure all finished products meet client specifications and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Surface Preparation: Prepare products for finishing by sanding, filling, cleaning, and ensuring proper surface conditions prior to coating application.
• Masking & Protection: Mask and tape areas as required to protect surfaces not intended for finishing.
• Material Preparation: Mix paints, coatings, and other materials according to manufacturer specifications and formulas.
• Spray Application: Apply a variety of industrial coatings to fabricated products using appropriate spray equipment and techniques.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure coatings meet quality, consistency, and specification standards.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of spray equipment and finishing tools.
• Inbound Support: Assist with receiving materials and support inbound quality control processes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Department Foreman, Production Manager, and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and on-time completion.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in finishing, spraying, or a related trade.
• Strong knowledge of finishing materials, coatings, and application techniques.
• Experience with commercial and/or construction painting methods.
• Proficient in the use of spray equipment including pressure pots, spray guns, hoses, nozzles, gauges, and cleaning systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with millwork finishing.
• Familiarity with a variety of industrial coating systems and applications.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Comfortable working with spray equipment, chemicals, and production tools.
