About the School
Georgetown Day School opened its doors in 1945 as the first integrated school in a segregated city. Governed by a Board of Trustees elected by the parent body and administered by an appointed Head of School, it was founded by seven families who wanted to create a school committed not only to academic excellence and educational innovation but also to a value system emphasizing appreciation and respect for others. In the fall of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools were all joined on one extraordinary campus. BENEFITS: Not-eligible Admissions Play Visit Teachers play a critical role in the process of observing and interpreting the cognitive, non-cognitive, physical, and creative capacities of children applying to prekindergarten, kindergarten and first grade. Dates: October 14th through the end of January. Visits are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday mornings. Training will take place on-campus on October 1st.

- Setting up play visit centers on our Lower/Middle School campus
- Greeting prospective families in the school lobby and escorting children to and from the Play Visit space
- Facilitating Play Visits and evaluating prekindergarten, kindergarten and first grade readiness with individuals and small groups of children
- Engaging with individual and small groups of children
- Completing student visit observation and assessment forms immediately following the Play Visit
- Other duties outside this description may be assigned as necessary.
Education and Experience
- Degree in early childhood education preferred
- Experience as an early childhood educator preferred
- Experience working with preschool children (Ages 3-6 years old)
- Demonstrated understanding of early childhood development
- Communicate clearly with young children,
- Organize activities, manage behavior positively, and maintain a safe learning environment
- Assess young children through engaging lessons and fun activities
- Collaborate with other play visit teachers
- Support applicant students from diverse demographic backgrounds
