Job Title: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: Current RN License issued by the state board or a current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association Must-Have: Strong knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and observes physiological manifestations. Intervenes when necessary based on patient observations. Administers medication as prescribed and initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients to share care plans while in the hospital and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Exhibits good verbal and written communication skills. Responds effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Demonstrates some computer skills.
