2027 Summer Intern: Sustainability

• You’re a motivated student with a current 3.0 GPA or higher currently pursuing a degree in one of the following areas from an accredited college or university:
• Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Energy Engineering, Energy & Sustainability Policy, Management and Organization, Management Science and Engineering
• This is a paid, full-time, 11-week internship designed to give you real-world experience and meaningful exposure to the telecommunications industry in your chosen field.
• Internship program runs from May 26 through August 6, 2027.
• In addition to role-specific projects, you’ll take part in professional development sessions, networking opportunities, mentorship and experiences that help you grow personally and professionally.

What you can expect in this role

As a Spectrum intern, you’ll spend the summer working alongside two teams: your respective department and your intern cohort.

Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on internship experiences that include a kickoff conference, professional development sessions and networking activities, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects and final presentations.

This experience is designed to help you explore your interests, expand your network and leave with a deeper understanding of both your field and the impact of our business.

Internship responsibilities may include:

• Energy Audits: Create a consolidated analysis of building energy audit reports conducted in 2025 and 2026, comparing to similar analysis from previous years. The objective is to improve consistency and make identify recommendations found by the audits for each site.
• Energy Efficiency Return on Investment: Calculate cost and energy savings from efficiency measures on the network, such as HVAC replacements.
• Evaluating on-site renewable technologies: Refresh and update an analysis at the site level for which renewable technologies have the greatest potential (e.g. solar, wind, battery, etc). Research available programs from states and utilities for the renewable technologies to provide up-to-date information for each site.
• Sustainability compliance: Prepare consolidated reporting from a compliance software tool across the 45 state footprint with comparison to existing efforts

Required qualifications

• Rising Seniors (Graduating date of December 2027 or May 2028)
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a bachelor’s degree
• Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
• Ability to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the program
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship

• Be a team-focused, collaborative person who works (and plays) well with others.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Possess strong time management skills and the ability to be self-directed.

The base pay for this position generally is between $28.50 and $29.50 . The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
