Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will support the development, transfer, validation, launch, and continuous improvement of Class II and III medical device manufacturing processes, including catheters, implants, and other disposable medical devices. This role works closely with R&D, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to bring products from development into scalable production while ensuring robust daily manufacturing operations in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Support, optimize, and sustain manufacturing processes for Class II and III medical devices in a regulated production environment.
• Troubleshoot production issues related to equipment, tooling, materials, and processes to ensure product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
• Lead or support new product transfers from R&D into manufacturing, ensuring smooth scale-up and production readiness.
• Develop and execute process validations, including IQ, OQ, PQ, test method validation (TMV), and measurement system analysis (MSA).
• Implement manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and automation solutions to improve throughput, quality, and repeatability.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve flow, and enhance process capability.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, process flows, bills of materials (BOMs), and validation protocols.
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D to resolve issues, support production, and implement process improvements.
• Support equipment validation and method transfer activities to ensure compliant and reliable manufacturing operations.
• Contribute engineering expertise to manufacturing process improvement and equipment implementation projects.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 1–5 years of experience in manufacturing, process, or product transfer engineering.
• Experience with process development, validation, troubleshooting, and production support in a manufacturing environment.
• Manufacturing engineering experience within medical device or similarly regulated industries.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Working knowledge of Six Sigma and root cause analysis tools for problem solving.
• Experience with equipment validation and method transfer activities.
• Proficiency with CAD software, with SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience working with ERP systems to support manufacturing and production activities.
• Strong hands-on engineering skills and practical problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Medical device manufacturing experience, particularly with Class II and III devices, is preferred.
• Experience working with catheters, implants, or other complex disposable medical devices.
• Experience in product and process transfers from development into full-scale production.
• Direct experience executing validation activities, including IQ, OQ, and PQ.
• Experience in manufacturing process improvement and implementation of new equipment and automation solutions.
• Familiarity with developing and maintaining detailed manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, BOMs, and validation protocols.

Work Environment

The role is based in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment focused on Class II and III products such as catheters, implants, and disposable devices. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely on the production floor and in engineering spaces, interacting with manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and automation technologies. The environment emphasizes quality, safety, and compliance, with strong collaboration across Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D. Standard business hours are typical, with occasional time spent on the shop floor to support validations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities. CAD tools such as SolidWorks and ERP systems are used regularly to support engineering and production activities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $48.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Charlotte,NC.
