Assembly Operator / Plastic Operator

The Assembly Operator / Plastic Operator operates production machinery and related equipment to support high-volume manufacturing processes in either assembly operations or plastic molding. This role ensures products are produced efficiently, safely, and in accordance with established quality and food safety standards, while maintaining a clean and organized work area and collaborating closely with the production team.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor assembly machines or plastic molding machines and related equipment to meet production output and quality standards.
• Follow established procedures for machine startup, operation, shutdown, and basic troubleshooting, including responding to alarms and restarting machines as needed.
• Perform quality inspections using visual checks, gauges, fixtures, and scales to verify that products meet specifications.
• Handle materials and manage production flow by staging raw materials, tracking work-in-process, and organizing finished goods.
• Package products by folding, taping, labeling cartons, and palletizing according to specified requirements.
• Rework or sort defective or rejected products to ensure only conforming products move forward in the process.
• Use barcode scanners to track materials and production activity accurately throughout the manufacturing process.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with internal policies and food safety (SQF) standards.
• Communicate equipment issues, malfunctions, or maintenance needs promptly to supervisors and team members.
• Collaborate with coworkers and support a team-oriented production environment to achieve daily and weekly goals.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing environment, including assembly or plastic molding equipment.
• Experience in general production, including handling materials, staging work, and supporting continuous production flow.
• Ability to perform basic machine operation tasks such as startup, monitoring, shutdown, and simple troubleshooting.
• Experience with packaging operations, including folding, taping, labeling cartons, and palletizing finished products.
• Proficiency in performing visual inspections and using gauges, fixtures, and scales to verify product quality.
• Familiarity with plastic injection molding processes and related machine operation.
• Ability to use barcode scanners for tracking materials and production data.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to following standard operating procedures and quality standards.
• Ability to work safely around machinery and follow all safety and food safety (SQF) requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing setting.
• Experience working in a team-oriented production environment.
• Comfort working around moderate noise levels with appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Willingness to follow strict dress code requirements related to product and food safety.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility with moderate noise levels from operating machinery. Personal protective equipment, including hair nets, beard nets (when appropriate), safety glasses, and ear plugs, is provided and must be worn as required. Due to the nature of the product line and food safety standards, a strict dress code applies: no jewelry, all face and body piercings must be removed, and no fake fingernails or fake eyelashes are allowed. The environment is team-oriented, with employees working closely together on production lines and around machinery while following structured processes and safety protocols.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fenton, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
