Phlebotomist

Location: Camillus, NY | Schedule: Contract, full-time, on-site, Monday-Friday 7:30AM-430PM with Rotating Saturdays 7:00AM-12:00PM | Compensation: Benefits are available Overview A healthcare services organization is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join its laboratory team on a contract basis with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection, patient care, and smooth laboratory workflow. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and complete decontamination procedures Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper temperature storage, container placement, labeling, and adherence to protocol to maintain specimen integrity Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting 2 to 4 years of experience required Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This is a contract opportunity with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for permanent placement, offering hands-on laboratory experience and available benefits. #J-18808-Ljbffr
