About This Role

The Education Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the educational experience of club members, particularly during Power Hour sessions. This individual serves as a liaison between teachers, parents, schools, and the club, ensuring the well-being and academic success of members. The Education Coordinator fosters a positive and supportive environment, encouraging members to seek guidance and advice from staff when needed.

What You'll Do

Oversees club members' educational experience through Power Hour.

  • Establishes communication channels with schools, informing counselors, teachers, and other relevant parties about club members' grades and behaviors.
  • Develops strategies to ensure members complete their homework and receive necessary assistance with schoolwork.
  • Stays in touch with parents regarding educational assistance offered at the club as required.
  • Ensures members actively participate in program activities and events.
  • Encourages members to seek advice and guidance from staff when facing challenges.
  • Promotes a safe and respectful environment, recognizing and appreciating members' efforts.
  • Collaborates with Unit Directors to design and implement engaging program services and activities for members and visitors.
  • Initiates new programs with the approval of the Program Director, making recommendations as needed.
  • Maintains a focus on safety, positive values, and ethics in all program activities and the Club's overall appearance.
  • Serves as a positive role model and guide for members.
  • Assists in managing inventories of program equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and upkeep of the Program Area after usage.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May participate in special programs and/or events.

Location:Bristol, Virginia

Background checks

Ability to Pass a Drug Screen

Demonstrate creative, organizational, and project management abilities.

Ability to effectively manage and respond to disciplinary issues among members.

Demonstrated ability in building strong relationships with young people and parents.

High School Diploma

Must be available to work Monday- Friday 12:30pm-6:30pm

Must be at least 18 years old

Background checks

Prior experience working with children is preferred.

Familiarity with basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word is a plus.
