Position Summary

The BI Report Developer is a hands-on contract role supporting our move from Microsoft SQL Server and SSRS to a new reporting platform built on MySQL/MariaDB and Stimulsoft. You will analyze our existing databases, T-SQL code, and SSRS reports, convert queries and database objects to MySQL/MariaDB, and rebuild our reports in Stimulsoft for our PokerAtlas® and TableCaptain® platforms, improving layout and usability along the way. Working closely with our product, engineering, and implementation teams, you will validate every report against source data so nothing is lost in the transition. This engagement is expected to run 3–6 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs.

This role is ideal for an experienced report developer who is comfortable owning work from requirements through delivery with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate combines strong SQL skills across both SQL Server and MySQL/MariaDB with sharp attention to detail, communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and leaves behind clean, well-documented work that our team can maintain and build on after the engagement ends.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing SQL Server databases, T-SQL code, and SSRS reports to support the migration and assess conversion complexity.
• Convert T-SQL queries, stored procedures, user-defined functions, triggers, and views to MySQL and MariaDB syntax, handling platform differences such as temp tables, table variables, and date/time and string functions.
• Map SQL Server data types, collations, and character sets to appropriate MySQL/MariaDB equivalents.
• Rebuild reports in Stimulsoft, recreating parameters, cascading filters, groupings, subreports, drill-downs, charts, and export formats, and improving layout and usability where appropriate.
• Design and build new reports and dashboards in Stimulsoft as the reporting platform expands.
• Write, test, and optimize SQL queries against MySQL/MariaDB databases to source and shape report data.
• Gather and clarify reporting requirements with stakeholders, translating business needs into clear report specifications.
• Validate converted reports against source data and the original SSRS output, identify discrepancies, and resolve data issues with the engineering team.
• Create reusable report templates, styles, and components to support consistency across the platform.
• Document report logic, data sources, templates, and conversion decisions so the platform can be maintained after the engagement ends.
• Provide regular progress updates and flag risks, dependencies, or scope questions early.

Requirements

• Experience with Business Intelligence / Reporting Tools required, with a strong preference for experience with Stimulsoft.
• Experience with SQL, MySQL and/or MariaDB required.
• Experience with T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SSRS required.
• Strong working knowledge of the differences between SQL Server and MySQL/MariaDB, including syntax, data types, collations, and built-in functions.
• Proven track record of building accurate, production-quality reports and dashboards from business requirements.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts, including joins, aggregations, and query performance.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a contract setting.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data and report logic to non-technical stakeholders.
• Must pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience migrating databases and reports from SQL Server/SSRS to MySQL/MariaDB or another reporting platform.
• Experience in hospitality, gaming, or casino environments.
