Project Manager - OFCI Equipment, Procurement & Logistics

Location: New Florence, Missouri, approximately one hour northwest of St. Louis Work Arrangement: Full-time, on-site Schedule: Five 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday, plus alternating Saturdays; scheduled Saturday work is included in salary Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience Start Date: Rolling, as project needs are identified Project Duration: Approximately three years remaining in Phase 1 Relocation: Required if not currently within practical commuting distance Employment Type: Project-based employment with potential for continued long-term placement Per Diem: Monthly per diem is available regardless of residence. A substantially enhanced package is available to eligible employees whose permanent residence is at least 100 miles from the project site. Per diem may include taxable and non-taxable components according to applicable requirements and company policy. Position Overview Albers is seeking an experienced project manager to lead owner-furnished, contractor-installed (OFCI) equipment for an active hyperscale data center project in New Florence, Missouri. The project has approximately three years of planned construction activity remaining in its current phase. This role is responsible for major MEP equipment procurement and logistics from purchase order to installation. This includes procurement tracking, manufacturing and delivery status, logistics, receiving, quality inspection, storage, and handoff to installing contractors, as well as coordinating these activities with the construction schedule. Albers typically operates as an owner's representative and, for this assignment, is providing staff augmentation to a member of the project's construction joint venture. The selected candidate will integrate with the broader project team while remaining an employee of Albers. Key Responsibilities Track OFCI equipment from purchase order through fabrication, factory testing, shipment, delivery, and installation handoff. Maintain the equipment log, including order status, fabrication milestones, ship dates, required-on-site dates, and float against the construction schedule. Coordinate with manufacturers, suppliers, freight carriers, the owner, and installing contractors on delivery sequencing, site access, rigging, and laydown. Identify delivery risks early and develop recovery options with project leadership. Coordinate or attend factory acceptance testing (FAT) and factory witness tests where required. Lead receiving inspections: verify equipment against submittals and purchase orders, document shipping damage, and track deficiencies to closure. Manage storage and preservation requirements for equipment held on site before installation. Maintain records for handoff to installation, startup, commissioning, and turnover. Report status, risks, and decisions to project leadership clearly and regularly. Required Qualifications Eight (8) or more years of experience in construction project management, equipment procurement, expediting, or project logistics. Direct responsibility for the procurement, delivery, or receiving of major MEP or electrical equipment, such as switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, chillers, or air handlers. Experience on data center, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, industrial, advanced manufacturing, energy, or similarly systems-intensive projects. Working knowledge of construction schedules and the ability to tie equipment milestones to schedule activities. Strong tracking, documentation, and vendor communication skills. A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is preferred but not required. Substantial relevant experience may substitute for a degree. Preferred Qualifications Direct hyperscale or large-scale data center OFCI experience, on either the owner or contractor side. Experience coordinating FAT or factory witness testing for electrical or mechanical equipment. Experience with heavy-haul, oversize, or multi-vendor delivery logistics. Familiarity with Primavera P6, Procore, SAP or Oracle procurement modules, or comparable systems OSHA 30-hour Construction training. Work Environment and Conditions of Employment This is an active, field-oriented construction role requiring extended site walking and standing; access to mechanical and electrical rooms, data halls, equipment laydown and storage areas, stairs, ladders, and uneven surfaces; work around noise, dust, weather, and changing site conditions; and use of required PPE. The position may require occasional early mornings, evenings, additional hours, and project-related travel. Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
