Commercial Construction Senior Superintendent – Job Description The Senior Superintendent directs project workflow on site consistent with the project schedule and HITT safety and quality standards. The Senior Superintendent serves as the liaison between project team members, promoting the interests of both the business and clients, and demonstrates mid-level leadership. Responsibilities Understand and administer the HITT safety program, including all subcontractors, ensuring prompt reporting and investigation of accidents/incidents, and assisting in safety inspections by outside agencies. Maintain HITT quality standards for all aspects of the project. Serve as the on-site safety leader, managing a safe job site for all involved. Maintain a daily log of all activities and site conditions, manage the punch list, and oversee the closeout process through owner/architect acceptance. Work with the project manager to formulate the project schedule, ensure proper methods and sequence of installation, commit to schedule, and uphold HITT quality standards. Maintain good working relationships with all subcontractors, developing community relationships, and ensuring fair treatment. Ensure complete, accurate daily documentation of work orders/tickets, understand subcontractor scopes to avoid unnecessary change orders, and act promptly to provide solutions. Develop and organize the site team, arrange temporary facilities/utilities, and identify long‑lead items that need expediting. Collaborate with the project manager and site operations team throughout the project life cycle. Communicate project priorities to site staff and all subcontractors. Qualifications A four‑year degree from an accredited university in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred; additional work experience may substitute. 8–10years of commercial construction experience, including commercial general contracting, tenant renovations, service work, occupied spaces, weekend work, and fast‑paced projects. Mastery of building processes and best practices. Ability to organize necessary resources—people, tools, and time—to meet tight deadlines and achieve desired results. Project lead experience preferred; prior superintendent or project lead experience preferred. Proficiency with sector‑specific software systems (Microsoft Office suite, ProCore, Adobe, BlueBeam); OSHA30 certification preferred. Ability to walk or stand for long periods and lift up to 50lb. Strong communication skills: clear, concise, professional, and audience‑appropriate. Positive attitude and passion for construction.
