Senior Building Automation Controls TechnicianLocation: Tempe, AZ Employment Type: Full-Time Travel: Nationwide Hiring Timeline: ASAP Compensation: Based on experiencePosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Building Automation Controls Technician to design, install, program, commission, troubleshoot, and support building automation and control systems. This position supports mission-critical facilities and requires strong technical judgment, dependable customer service, and the flexibility to travel throughout the United States on a variable project schedule.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, install, program, commission, and troubleshoot building automation and control systems.Develop and modify control sequences, programming, graphics, and operator interfaces.Configure and troubleshoot Tridium Niagara AX and N4 systems, PLCs, PID control loops, BACnet, and Modbus networks.Support HVAC, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, critical-load, and backup-generator systems.Read and interpret controls architecture drawings, sequences of operation, P&IDs, electrical drawings, and technical documentation.Wire and assemble control panels and select appropriate sensors, controllers, and control components.Develop controls and interfaces for temperature, pressure, airflow, and liquid-process applications.Diagnose electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, programming, and communication issues.Identify potential system failures and implement proactive corrective actions.Communicate with customers, engineers, vendors, contractors, and facility personnel.Coordinate vendors to ensure work meets applicable standards, regulations, and operating procedures.Respond promptly to critical system issues while maintaining project schedules and customer expectations.Required Experience3-5 years of experience designing and implementing ground-up building automation and control systems.At least 3 years of Tridium Niagara AX or N4 experience and certification.Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, BAS/BMS platforms, instrumentation, PLC programming, and PID loop tuning.Experience with control-panel wiring, installation, sensors, controllers, BACnet, and Modbus.Ability to interpret controls architecture drawings, sequences of operation, electrical drawings, and P&IDs.Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and integrated building-management systems.Qualifications4+ years of relevant trade experience or an equivalent combination of work experience, training, military service, or education.Apprenticeship, trade-school training, or professional experience in commercial electrical, commercial HVAC, facility engineering, or building automation controls.Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, organization, communication, and customer-service skills.Ability to work under pressure in mission-critical environments.Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.Schedule and TravelThis position does not follow a fixed schedule. The technician will travel throughout the United States based on customer and project needs.
