Registered Nurse - ICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to ICU patients, ensuring their clinical needs are met through comprehensive assessments, accurate documentation, and adherence to safety and professionalism standards. Support patient recovery and promote optimal health outcomes in a critical care setting.

Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough patient assessments, considering all stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric populations.
• Deliver direct patient care activities supportive of the ICU team, demonstrating competent clinical skills.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of patient care, progress, and education using established guidelines.
• Demonstrate professional practice by adhering to facility policies, identifying opportunities for clinical growth, and maintaining accountability.
• Respond professionally and courteously to patients, families, and team members to foster a patient-centered care environment while maintaining confidentiality.
• Follow safety protocols including Universal Protocol, patient identification, safe transfer techniques, and proper body mechanics.
• Understand ICU-specific conditions, procedures, and equipment, tailoring patient care according to individual diagnoses and anesthesia types.
• Prioritize and assume responsibility for patient care, adjusting plans based on changes in patient condition.
• Engage patients and families in pre-operative and post-operative education, assessing understanding of procedures and instructions.
• Support pre-admission testing activities, evaluating orders for appropriateness and completeness based on patient and surgical factors.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid RN license with at least 1 year of ICU experience.
• Hold current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Demonstrate strong assessment, documentation, safety, and patient education skills.
• Ability to adapt care plans based on patient reactions and diagnostic findings.
