Electrical / Instrumentation & Controls Designer 2 - Energy & Industrial

Overview This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days. Responsibilities Utilize and expand your drafting skills while working in a multidisciplinary team environment with other designers and engineers in the preparation of design drawings. Apply computer‑aided drafting skills and receive hands‑on training in design software environments such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Work as part of the Energy & Industrial Group as an Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls designer for a variety of projects including Power Generation Stations, Oil & Gas facilities, Carbon Capture/Emissions Controls, etc. Create physical and plan drawings to scale, showing the relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and providing exact specifications and dimensions, as well as various non‑physical drawings and diagrams. Accompany and assist experienced designers on walk‑downs at client facilities to gather information for your design project. Interface with vendors and construction contractors to explain drawings so that appropriate design adjustments can be made. Utilize company and project drafting and design standards and adhere to plans and schedules. Essential Skills And Experience A high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience. Six (6) or more years of Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls design experience, including 2D & 3D. Advanced drafting experience using standard computer drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD or MicroStation) on power plants or other large‑scale industrial facilities projects. Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer. Ability to multi‑task from project to project. We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position. Valued but Not Required Skills And Experience Associate’s Degree in Computer Aided Design. Experience using both AutoCAD and MicroStation software. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design. Experience in the development of grounding layouts, underground duct bank, embedded conduit drawings, cable tray, exposed conduit layouts, instrument location plans, area classification plans, and electrical equipment location drawings. Design experience in the development of single‑line, relay and metering diagrams, including medium‑voltage and 480 V systems. Familiarity with digital control systems. Ability to produce wiring diagrams and schematics for installers and electricians. Assist engineers with initial design requirements. Conceptualize plans and details to accurately convey wiring termination requirements. Ability to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the Energy & Industrial facilities design process. Strong knowledge and ability to create interconnection wiring diagrams, conduit/cable schedules, loop diagrams, area classification plans. Experience with 3‑D lighting calculation programs and experience in heat trace design preferred. Ability to interpret P&IDs, instrumentation wiring and provide I&C input into P&IDs.
