About The Role Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking an Associate IT Systems Engineer to be part of our Advanced Capabilities team and based out of our Arlington, VA location. The Associate IT Systems Engineer will help build out, integrate, and secure various IT systems, maintain compliance on systems in the Arlington IDT Office as well as at customer sites, and develop/update processes using automation. Clearance & Location Requirements All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. This is an on-site position requiring at least 5 days in office, based out of Arlington, VA. Key Responsibilities Rack and install various server/networking devices within standard server racks as well as pelican-based enclosures. Perform regular server updates, patch management, and software installations. Operate and maintain servers both virtual and physical running a variety of Operating Systems including Red Hat, Windows, and VMware products. Install and provision newly purchased pieces of hardware equipment. Implement, maintain, and review security processes to maintain compliance and ensure user permissions are accordingly. Help develop and maintain various golden images to support business area activities, including operating system images and virtual machines. Create and maintain detailed documentation of systems and networks for use by both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Required Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent full‑time professional experience. 1+ years of full‑time professional experience in systems administration or system engineering discipline. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time as needed. Experience working in a VMware environment or similar virtualization platform. Experience troubleshooting network issues of various complexity. Experience with Bash, C, and/or Python scripting. Understanding of common TCP/IP concepts such as TCP, UDP, VLANs, DHCP, and routing. Experience provisioning and installing both physical devices and virtual machines. Security+, CCNA, or equivalent IAT Level II certification. Experience with hardening devices and updating DISA STIG checklists. Experience patching and remediating vulnerabilities in a closed network. What Makes You Stand Out Strong understanding of Red Hat or similar Linux distributions. Experience working with networking within a tactical system. Experience with Cisco switching including Virtual Port Channeling, VLANs, VRFs, etc. Experience configuring multiple forms of authentication, including PKI concepts. Experience identifying hardware and/or software for purchase to meet various use cases. Experience with Ruckus-based network devices (a plus). Experience with VMware NSX‑T (a plus). Experience with Ansible, PowerShell, Chef, Salt, Puppet, or other configuration automation software. Pay Range USD 74,000 – 150,000 per year (depending on experience, skills, and education).
