Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Lead Compliance Analyst supports the oversight and execution of compliance activities for affordable housing programs, including LIHTC, HUD, and other applicable subsidy programs.This role is responsible for monitoring compliance workflows, conducting audits, supporting reporting requirements, and providing technical guidance to on-site teams and internal partners. The Lead Compliance Analyst serves as an approachable subject-matter resource who communicates compliance expectations in a clear, positive, and solution-oriented manner. The role identifies compliance risks or gaps and provides practical recommendations for process improvements and policy updates to senior leadership.This is a remote role based in the Denver, CO or Salt Lake City, UT region. Occasional travel may be necessary within the region and/or to our Corporate Office in McLean, VA.ResponsibilitiesCompliance Oversight & MonitoringMonitor compliance with LIHTC, HUD, and applicable state and local program requirementsEnsure appropriate forms, documentation, and procedures are utilized for certifications, re-certifications, interims, and move-in/move-out activityReview compliance workflows for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness; identify issues and escalate concerns to the Operations Manager as appropriateAudits & ReportingConduct internal file audits and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirementsCoordinate and support external agency audits and inspections, including preparation, scheduling, attendance when needed, and follow-upTrack audit findings and support timely correction of deficiencies and findings issued by outside agenciesAssist with the preparation and submission of ongoing compliance reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual requirements based on the needs of each property and applicable online compliance systemsOversees the implementation of updated income limits, rent limits, and utility allowances on an annual basis to include updating YardiPrepare or coordinate compliance reporting and documentation submitted to agencies, including materials requested during audits or monitoring reviewsTraining & Technical SupportProvide compliance training, guidance, and technical support to compliance staff and on-site teamsServe as a resource for interpreting program requirements and resolving compliance-related questionsResponds to compliance-related questions from Regional Managers, site staff, and corporate personnel in a professional and timely mannerSupport ongoing education efforts to promote audit readiness and regulatory adherencePolicies, Procedures & Process ImprovementAssist in maintaining and updating compliance policies, procedures, and forms related to affordable housing complianceIdentify trends, recurring issues, or process gaps and provide recommendations to senior leadership for improvementSupport consistent implementation of compliance standards across the portfolioAgency & Cross-Functional CollaborationCommunicate with federal, state, and local housing agencies as needed regarding compliance mattersPartner with Operations, Asset Management, Development, and other internal teams to support compliance objectivesDuring development or acquisition phases, review governing documents and provide compliance feedback and recommendationsHybrid & On-Site SupportProvide occasional on-site compliance assistance, training, or audit support to communities requiring additional guidanceSupport special projects and compliance initiatives as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience requiredMinimum of 5+ years of LIHTC and affordable housing compliance or property management experienceActive Tax Credit Specialist (TCS) or Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) designation requiredWorking knowledge of LIHTC, HUD (including HOTMA), Fair Housing requirements, and applicable state and local eviction lawsKnowledge of TRACS and EIV systemsExperience with compliance software and reporting systems (e.g., Yardi or similar platforms)Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ExcelStrong organizational, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to work independently in a hybrid environment and travel periodically to support on-site needsThe salary range for the stated regions in the above Overview section is $95,000 - $115,000.The above-referenced position summary is a guideline designed to present an overview of the job duties and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of responsibilities and requirements.
