Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a school-based environment. This opportunity is conveniently situated near the VA/NC border, just 1.5 hours south of Roanoke, and spans across the Danville, VA area and its surroundings. Begin as soon as possible, extending through the end of the current school year.
As part of this role, you’ll make a real impact working full-time (37.5 hours per week) with students in grades K-12. Collaborate closely with a team, including two experienced virtual Occupational Therapists, to help students reach their fullest potential.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must hold Active COTA certification and licensure in Virginia
- Previous experience in a school setting is strongly preferred
- Comfortable managing a diverse K-12 caseload
- Excellent communication skills to consult and collaborate with virtual OTs and school staff
- Ability to adapt interventions to meet individual needs and educational goals
Expectations and Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct occupational therapy services to students as prescribed in IEPs
- Implement therapy plans in coordination with supervising virtual OTs
- Collect and maintain accurate documentation of sessions and student progress
- Work effectively with teachers, parents, and school administrators
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing insights for student planning
