National Pump Company is seeking an Applications Engineer I to join our Customer Service team. This position serves as a primary technical point of contact for customers, distributors, and sales representatives, providing application support, product recommendations, quotation development, and order coordination for pump systems and related equipment. The Applications Engineer I functions as a customer advocate by working directly with customers to understand their needs, resolve technical issues, and ensure a positive customer experience throughout the sales and order fulfillment process.
The successful candidate will collaborate with customers, sales representatives, engineering, production, operations, and quality teams to provide accurate technical solutions while delivering a high level of customer service and support.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, distributors, and sales representatives regarding product selection, quotations, order status, technical questions, and application requirements.
- Provide technical customer support and application assistance for pump systems and related equipment.
- Review customer specifications, operating conditions, and project requirements to recommend appropriate product solutions.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, technical documentation, submittals, and related customer materials.
- Coordinate customer requirements with Sales, Engineering, Production, Quality, and Operations to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Support order processing by transitioning awarded quotations into sales orders and assisting with project coordination through shipment and completion.
- Respond to customer inquiries, troubleshoot application concerns, and provide timely resolution to technical and service-related issues.
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships through responsive communication, problem-solving, and follow-through.
- Maintain accurate technical records, quotations, customer documentation, and engineering files.
- Develop knowledge of company products, pump systems, engineering applications, and industry standards to effectively support customer needs.
Qualifications
- Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in customer service, technical support, inside sales, applications engineering, industrial equipment, pump systems, or a related field preferred.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, distributors, sales representatives, and internal departments.
- Technical aptitude with the ability to understand engineering applications, product specifications, and customer requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, engineering specifications, and customer requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business software systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Experience with pump systems, industrial equipment, ERP systems, or engineered-to-order products is a plus.
