Location: Cleveland, OH, US Requisition ID: 180606 Job Level: Mid Level Home District/Group: Weeks Marine - McNally Department: Safety Market: Water/Wastewater Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview As a Safety Manager, your primary responsibilities center on the successful implementation and support of the Site‑Specific Safety Plan in the field. You must be a self‑starter, highly motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision. The position requires someone who can quickly learn and understand various processes regarding our policies, procedures and software programs. District Overview McNally International is a privately owned heavy construction company that specializes in tunnel and marine construction. Location The role will begin on a project in Cleveland, OH. Candidate must be willing to travel and relocate across North America following the initial assignment. Responsibilities Collaborate with the craft daily in the field to encourage buy‑in of our safety program and support craft ownership of the safety program. Exercise stop‑work responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, work plans, work packs, and detailed work plans. Plan, prioritize, and problem‑solve with operations in the field daily based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work. Encourage, support, inspire, and advise staff and craft employees to execute the SSSP. Assist with maintaining project files in compliance with applicable regulations. Assist with first aid and maintain relationships with emergency medical services and clinics, and with incident investigations and implementation of effective solutions. Complete a daily documented hazard inspection and assist operations, craft, and subcontractors with implementation of corrective actions. Review work packs, detailed work plans, and detailed work plans prior to the start of work. Assist and provide safety training on policies, procedures, and client‑specific requirements. Qualifications The ability to travel and relocate as required. Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study is preferred. 8+ years of safety experience in construction, preferably in heavy civil underground projects. Knowledge of Federal and OSHA requirements is an asset. Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred. Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies. Strong work ethic; willingness to do what it takes to get the job done. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide‑ranging climates and environments. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Professional certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST, EM385) preferred. CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
