Ophthalmic TechnicianResponsible for assisting the ophthalmologist and optometrists by gathering data pertaining to the patient's ocular health status. The ophthalmic technician is proficient in performing appropriate clinical tests, drawing on formal education and/or clinical experience that provide a solid understanding of the theory and principles of eye care.ClinicalReviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and/or patient history.Ability to act as a medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records.Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.Ability to assist with simple in-office procedures ensures proper informed consent is obtained.Assists with patient education.Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.Complies with all practice procedures and protocols.
