American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center hospital in Shelby, NC, requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience and a 12-hour night shift commitment. Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Proficiency in trach management, cardiac drip administration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube care, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Responsibilities 32-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a 241-licensed-bed, Level 3 Trauma hospital that is also a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center Patient population includes those not requiring mechanical ventilation, such as CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illness/infections, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and IVDA Typical RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with the possibility of 1:5 depending on acuity Common procedures include trach management, cardiac drip administration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube care, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management EMR: Epic (experience preferred) Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors Telemetry monitoring available at bedside and nurses station 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week Every-other-weekend rotation required No on-call responsibilities Floating required within the region and scope of practice (Region 3: Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) Support staff includes CNAs for ADLs, a charge nurse available as a resource, phlebotomy (nurse draws only when needed), an IV/VAT team, RT (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist (24/7); unit receptionist/HUC is available on day shift only Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time must be added to the end of the contract Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle Required scrub color: Navy Free parking is available on site Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered First-time travelers are welcome to apply Unit culture is described as family-oriented Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs #J-18808-Ljbffr
