Heavy Equipment CDL Driver

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Safely operate company vehicles to move loads both on-site and off-site when needed. Some of the responsibilities of the CDL Driver include: Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs. Pick-up and safely transport goods to the intended destination Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck or on a flatbed to prevent damage or injury Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries Occasional heavy equipment operation needed Assist in mapping driving routes Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery Communicate with dispatch as needed Confirm that the contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip Check weather conditions and road reports before departure Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.) Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered Plan routes, meet delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs Track and report working hours Adhere to company rules and regulations Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions Comply with DOT regulations Make safety a priority at all times Accept other duties on the yard when hauls are not scheduled This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required. Other job duties might include seasonal/harvest-type activities, including: Operating equipment such as tractors, lifts, loader, and yard dogs Cleaning up the yard Operating a dump pit/truck dumper Operating the farmer stock cleaner Checking incoming moistures Moving and hooking up trailers or wagons to dryers Physical Activities Climbing stairs and ladders occasionally Walking Lifting Driving Reaching overhead Reaching at or below shoulder level Bending and twisting Stooping Gross manipulation Sitting for long periods of time Must be able to Possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) Maintain a clean driving record with no moving violations Pass a background check and drug test Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles Stay alert, focused, and detail-oriented Adapt and have foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.) Physically and mentally fit Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time Possess great physical stamina and focus during driving shifts Operate an electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc. Be proficient using GPS and other routing systems Read maps and have route planning experience Possess a high level of composure and good stress management #J-18808-Ljbffr
