Network Infrastructure Technician – Fiber & Server Systems Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Network Infrastructure Technician to support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network testing infrastructure for an innovative energy technology company in Berkeley, CA.

This is a hands-on technical role supporting advanced networking environments, server infrastructure, and fiber optic connectivity. The ideal candidate has experience installing network equipment, working with Layer 3 switches, and maintaining reliable communication between interconnected systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, network switches, routers, and associated infrastructure.

• Build and maintain server racks, switch cabinets, and network equipment installations.

• Install and manage fiber optic connections, including single-mode and multi-mode fiber.

• Work with SFP transceivers, top-of-rack switches, and Layer 3 networking equipment.

• Support network environments utilizing spine-leaf topology.

• Perform cable management, equipment connectivity checks, and network troubleshooting.

• Maintain and service network testing infrastructure supporting complex interconnected systems.

• Identify, source, and recommend networking hardware and replacement components.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to support network infrastructure expansion and testing requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 6–12 years of experience in network infrastructure, data center operations, or network technician roles preferred.

• Hands-on experience installing servers, switches, routers, and network equipment.

• Strong understanding of fiber optic cabling, including single-mode and multi-mode connections.

• Experience with SFP transceivers and network switch connectivity.

• Familiarity with Layer 3 switches and network routing fundamentals.

• Understanding of spine-leaf network topology.

• Experience with server rack installation, structured cabling, and cable management.

• Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity and hardware issues.

• Ability to work independently in a hands-on technical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in Linux environments.

• Background supporting network testing infrastructure or private network environments.

• Experience with automotive networking or zonal architecture.

• Familiarity with Single Pair Ethernet (SPE).

• Experience supporting large-scale interconnected systems or industrial networking environments.
