Licensed Practical Nurse 2 Full-Time - Permanent (Days) Washington Soldiers Home, Orting, WA Overview: This LPN 2 role provides resident-centered care at the Washington Soldiers Home. You will assist and monitor residents with activities of daily living, following nursing standards of practice, and support our mission to serve veterans. Responsibilities Prepare, carry out, evaluate, and revise treatment plans for individual residents based on observations and recommendations from physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other nurses. Pass medications and administer, monitor, and record treatments; assess resident condition (including skin) and promote participation in recreational activities. Suction, administer oxygen, catheterization, irrigation; administer IV solutions, colostomy and trach care; maintain gastric feeding tubes and pumps. Process physician orders. Assist with routine rehabilitative and maintenance. Qualifications Current Washington state practical nurse license or unencumbered practical nurse multistate license. One year of experience as a practical nurse. Ability to demonstrate proficiency in English; read, write, and speak English. Ability to perform data entry; maintain confidentiality; meet residents' psychosocial needs; follow written and verbal directions; document and report observed changes in inpatient condition and behavior. Agency Required Competencies: take action to learn and grow; take action to meet the needs of others. Preferred/Desired Washington state practical nurse license preferred. Long-term care experience. Understanding of nursing/restorative care practices, infection control, recordkeeping, and client rights. Experience in assessing and developing care plans. Special Requirements Background check every two years; complies with WDVA policy. Annual TB screening per policy. Respiratory protection training and equipment; ability to wear PPE. CPR current. Physical requirements: lift up to 60 lbs; reach 36 inches; unrestricted walking, sitting, bending; and ability to stock supplies. Maintain valid Washington LPN license. Regular attendance; willingness to work as needed. Complete required orientation and ongoing training; comply with DVA policies and CBAs. Confidentiality agreement. Travel may be required with valid driver’s license and insurance if using a private vehicle on state business. Must have work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.
