Patient Educator - Contact Lens Tech

Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and computer skills and extend superior client service by creating a positive first impression and showing patients that we provide unsurpassed care right from the start. Primary Responsibilities Help patients with their contact lens needs: processing orders, applying insurance and various other tasks. Educate patients on contact lens products, proper care of contact lens, and insertion and removal of contact lenses. Proactively engage patients in communicating what to expect with the visit and continues to communicate delays or any other changes with the patient. Maintain professionalism to provide excellent customer service for patients; practice confidentiality and privacy protocols by following policies and HIPAA requirements. Assist team members and complete other special projects as requested. Education Minimum of HS Diploma Skills & Experience Previous Optometry, Ophthalmology, or medical background preferred. Experience with NextGen software or another EHR is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Well‑organized, a team‑player, and detail‑oriented. Motivated and dependable with a patient‑friendly personality. Demonstrated superior computer skills. Some travel between offices may be required. Physical Requirements This role requires a variety of physical activities to effectively perform essential job functions. The position involves frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%). Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential, as the role demands constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology. Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.
