For full details, view the Benefits of Working at HHSC page. Responsibilities Create and run queries to generate datasets, analyze data, and produce reports and graphics. Run routine reports and respond to ad hoc report requests. Develop new reports to address identified needs and provide technical support for local databases. Train hospital staff on database usage and data accuracy. Monitor data system usage and ensure input accuracy. Consult with internal and external customers to clarify data needs and adjust reports. Conduct ad hoc data analysis for Hospital Management and departmental requests. Run daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly production reports; interpret results and highlight outliers. Use queries and reports to audit or monitor for irregularities; support training and procedural modifications. Participate in disaster response and Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation as required, which may involve alternate shifts or locations. Essential Job Functions Attend work on a regular basis; may require rotating schedules, extended shifts, or overtime. Build and support databases and data collection systems for hospital customers; ensure accurate, reliable results. Monitor data systems and promote accurate data input by users. Create or modify queries to meet changing data needs; provide relevant analysis as needed. Consult with customers to clarify data requirements and ensure report accessibility. Conduct ad hoc data analysis for management and departmental requests. Run production reports, interpret results for outliers, and format data for presentation. Use queries and reports to conduct audits or monitor electronic medical record usage; assist with training or procedural changes based on results. Perform other duties as assigned, including disaster response participation. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of common statistical measures and their relevance to data analysis. Knowledge of electronic medical record operation and the specific data contained within. Skills in relational database management, including query creation and data extraction. Skills in using computers and common data collection and analysis software. Ability to compile, review, and analyze data; create reports and presentation graphics. Ability to communicate effectively with clinicians and department heads regarding data needs. Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Initial Screening Criteria Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, information systems, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field. OR four (4) years of equivalent experience in one or more of those fields. One year of experience in data analysis, research, and report design. One year of experience with database software programs. One year of experience creating queries and reports. Experience may be overlapping. Additional Information All applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, and the List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Males 18‑25 must register with the Selective Service. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age; Waco and Terrell Center for Youth applicants must be 21 years of age. Flexibility in work hours may be required; overtime and extended hours are possible. Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures related to immunizations is required. Employees may be required to wear a mask if not immunized for influenza.
