CNC Milling and Turning Setup Operator
Location: Livermore, CA
Shifts: Immediate openings on 1st and 2nd shift
Equipment: Horizontal Mills, Vertical Mills, CNC Lathes, and Mill-Turn Lathes
Compensation: Pay varies based on your skill level, years of experience, and the types of machines you can set up and run.
A day in the lifeOn your shift in our Livermore shop, you’ll select the right workholding, mount tools, and dial in offsets before you press cycle start. You’ll confer with engineers and supervisors to align on specifications, then fine-tune feeds, speeds, and tooling choices to hold tolerance. Throughout the run, you’ll keep an eye on temperatures, coolant levels, and part quality—making smart adjustments as you go. When the parts are complete, you’ll verify dimensions and surface finish, and wrap up by performing routine maintenance so the machine is ready for the next job.
What you’ll do- Determine and install fixtures, attachments, and cutting tools per specifications prior to machining.
- Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to ensure products match plans; recommend design adjustments when needed.
- Adjust machine speed, tooling, and cutting approach to achieve precision and repeatability.
- Monitor the cut in-process, catch issues early, and correct errors to prevent scrap.
- Track machine temperature, allow proper warm-up/cool-down, and replace coolant on schedule.
- Interpret cutting plans and load them into the control; make edits when corrections are required.
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy and uniformity to protect our quality reputation.
- Perform daily/weekly/monthly maintenance: lubrication, cleaning, and tool replacement.
Note: We do not have programming roles open at this time; having programming exposure is a plus.
Qualifications Required- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years operating CNC machines.
- Comfortable using tools and performing basic machine upkeep.
- Familiarity with programming concepts and interpreting CNC software.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to precision and enforcing quality standards.
- Ability to understand G-code.
