This role supports a high-volume distribution center by accurately picking, loading, and receiving products using material handling equipment and scanning technology. You will start with dedicated picking responsibilities and then receive cross-training in loading and receiving, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the entire warehouse operation. This is an open-ended contract position, and standout performers may be considered for direct hire as permanent opportunities become available.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately pick products from designated locations based on order specifications and pick lists.
• Operate an electric pallet jack safely to transport products throughout the warehouse.
• Use RF scanners and other scanning equipment to verify items, track inventory, and ensure orders are correctly fulfilled.
• Double-check picked items against order lists to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Place picked items onto pallets in a secure, organized manner and wrap the tops of pallets before sending them to the wrapping machine.
• Stage orders for outbound shipments, ensuring pallets are properly labeled and ready for loading.
• Pull pallets off the conveyor and scan them using provided equipment to confirm shipment details.
• Utilize the SAP system to determine the appropriate dock door for each pallet and incoming shipment.
• Transport pallets to designated doors using a sit-down forklift while following all safety procedures.
• Unload shipments from trucks and other delivery vehicles in the receiving area.
• Stage the receiving area for the next order by tucking the tails, checking tags and labels, and putting items away in their proper locations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both picking and receiving zones.
• Follow all warehouse safety guidelines and protocols, including proper use of equipment and personal protective gear.
• Remain self-motivated, stay on task throughout the shift, and meet productivity and accuracy expectations.

Essential Skills:

• Willingness to operate an electric pallet jack as a primary tool for order picking.
• Willingness to learn and operate a sit-down forklift for loading and material movement.
• Ability to work comfortably in cold temperatures within a 45-degree warehouse environment.
• Strong self-motivation and ability to stay focused and on task with minimal supervision.
• Capacity to perform physical warehouse work, including lifting, moving, and stacking items on pallets.
• Basic familiarity with warehouse operations such as order picking, loading, unloading, and staging.
• Commitment to following safety procedures when using pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience using RF scanners or scan guns to track inventory and process pick lists.
• Previous order picking experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
• Hands-on experience operating an electric pallet jack in a production or warehouse setting.
• in material handling, including pallet jack operation, loading, unloading, and staging.
• Experience using sit-down forklifts for loading and moving pallets.
• Familiarity with inventory processes and basic warehouse packing tasks.
• Exposure to SAP or similar warehouse management systems for door assignment and shipment tracking.

Work Environment:

The role is based in a 45-degree warehouse environment where all necessary cold-weather equipment is provided to keep you comfortable. Morning shift openings start Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for 12 weeks of training, then transition to a 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. schedule on a 2-2-3 rotation. Night shift openings start Sunday through Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. for 12 weeks of training, then move to a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 2-2-3 schedule. Shifts include two paid 20-minute breaks and one unpaid 30-minute break. You will regularly use electric pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, RF scanners, scan guns, and SAP-based systems in a busy distribution center. The dress code includes jeans and steel-toe or composite-toe shoes, and cold weather gear such as bibs and gloves is provided to support safe and comfortable work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Anderson, IN.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
