Respiratory Therapist, RRT

Employment Type: Full‑time Shift: Night Shift (6:00PM–6:30AM). This role supports the MercyOne family as a Respiratory Therapist, performing patient assessment, evaluation, therapy, and equipment troubleshooting across all age groups. Essential Functions Perform inhaled medication therapy, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, and various specialized oxygen therapies. Provide CPAP, BIPAP, aerosol, PEP, high‑frequency oscillator, and ventilatory support modalities per physician orders. Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assist or perform intubation, and manage artificial airways and patient transport requiring ventilatory support. Assemble, manipulate, and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment, including mechanical ventilators, pulse oximeters, capnometers, aerosol generators, medical gas delivery systems, humidification systems, and mechanical percussors. Interpret diagnostic results (blood gas, pulmonary function, end‑tidal CO 2 , pulse oximetry) and report findings. Maintain record‑keeping, billing, and medical documentation. Provide patient instruction on the use of respiratory care devices and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Credentialed as a certified or registered respiratory therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire. Active license as a respiratory care practitioner in the State of Iowa upon hire. BLS certified within three months of hire. Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within six months of hire and every three years thereafter. Preferred ACLS certification within one year of hire.
