That call is the start of the most interesting work in private practice, in my view. Two sophisticated parties, a pile of documents, and a dispute that rarely has an obvious answer. Somebody has to sort through it, find the story a judge will believe and tell it well.

I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, and I'm hiring a commercial litigation associate in Miami. This is commercial litigation, not insurance defense: business disputes for companies and their owners.

Matters you'd handle

• Contract and business tort disputes

• Shareholder, partnership and LLC disputes

• Fraud and fiduciary duty claims

• Injunctions and emergency motion practice

• Discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, trial and arbitration

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of commercial litigation experience

• Strong academics

• Florida Bar membership

• Writing that persuades busy judges quickly

Arrangements

• Hybrid, Miami

• $130,000 to $200,000, purposely broad, with flex for the right candidate if experience warrants it

• Billable expectations explained in full on our first call
