Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and demonstrated experience as a sign language interpreter
• Ability to interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa in real-time
• Certification or relevant credentials in sign language interpreting preferred
• Experience working in a school or educational environment a plus
• Strong understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpreting services for students during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings
• Collaborate with educators to ensure material is accurately conveyed for student understanding
• Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
• Support students’ participation in both academic and social activities within the school community
