Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (Registered)

Location: Jersey City Medical Center

Shift: Night

Compensation: $41.05 - $52.68 per hour

Job Overview

The Respiratory Therapist will deliver respiratory care services across all hospital departments. Responsibilities include maintaining and monitoring mechanical ventilation, providing emergency airway management as required, and conducting arterial/capillary pH blood gas sampling and analysis.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • Graduation from a National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) accredited program.
  • Possession of the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver patient care as outlined in the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of services.
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions, organize tasks, and complete assigned work.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with patients, visitors, and the medical team.
  • Proficiency in EPIC EMR software.
• Preferred:
  • Two to three years of experience in adult critical care and neonatal/pediatric settings.

Certifications and Licenses

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registry Eligible (CRT) as defined by the NBRC.
• Active New Jersey State License for practicing Respiratory Therapy.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.

Scheduling Requirements

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Alternating weekends required.
• Availability for one major summer holiday and one major winter holiday is necessary.

Essential Functions

The Respiratory Therapist will assess and suggest modifications to therapy in accordance with established policies and procedures. Collaboration with physicians and nursing staff will be essential to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes for patients. This role also serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff and other personnel, ensuring care aligns with established standards. Additional duties may be assigned by the manager or supervisor to ensure the department operates efficiently.
