Certified Medical Assistant (CMARMA) Occupational Medicine

Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant Senior performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensures that the office runs smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients by collecting pertinent information regarding the patients chief complaint family history social history surgical history and medication reconciliation upon arrival for a patient visit.
• Completing necessary telephone communications with patients families pharmacies and/or other health care facilities as directed.
• Gathering information and maintaining patient information via telephone per department-specific processes and policies.
• Performing administrative tasks including patient check-in/check-out prior authorizations scheduling appointments verification of benefits and coordination of referrals and testing.
• Completing office procedures as directed and per department-specific competencies.
• Performing procedures such as urine catheterizations bladder scanning suture or staple removal application or removal of casts at the direction of a provider reading results of negative TB skin tests or directing patients to a department nurse when TB screening indicates a positive read and other diagnostic testing at the point of care.
• Providing patients with written instructions regarding procedures medications or follow-up instructions at the direction of the provider.
• Retrieving and providing condition-specific education from the internet internal website or printed materials per provider directions and orders.
• Administering medications per provider orders.
• Providing assistance with prescription medication refills per department protocols.
• Calling medications into pharmacies notifying patients of refills and documenting actions within the EMR per provider orders.
• Maintaining department-specific competencies related to point-of-care testing equipment handling and specialty training.
• Accurately measuring and recording height weight and vital signs (temperature pulse respiration blood pressure).
• Completing medication reconciliation.
• Administering vaccinations.
• Assisting providers with procedures and treatments.
• Performing audiometry spirometry respiratory mask fits EKGs and phlebotomy.
• Performing ear washes and dressing changes.
• Performing drug and alcohol testing according to state and federal guidelines.
• Ensuring documentation of care is complete and accurate.
• Providing support to nursing staff.
• Ordering receiving and storing supplies.
• Cleaning and stocking exam rooms and procedure rooms.
• Maintaining par levels of supplies.
• Maintaining expiration logs for supplies and medications.

• Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (AMT) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (ARMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (AAH) - American Allied Health (AAH)

Education:

• High School Diploma/GED

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is $19.31per hour - $31.28per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidates experience qualifications location training licenses shifts worked and compensation model.
