Diesel Mechanic

Job Type Full-time Description Technician for 2nd Shift (1pm - 9pm Monday - Friday) Quarterly Performance Bonus! Starting Pay Range: $22 to $35 based on experience (does not include increase rates for approved certifications) Position Summary: Maintains/repairs all types of company owned vehicles, including Gasoline, Diesel, Electric and Propane powered. Troubleshoots and diagnoses mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions, and efficiently repairs the same. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical malfunctions Diagnose mechanical malfunctions, determine parts needed and order through the parts rooms Repair engines, drive trains, front and rear ends, all air, electrical and hydraulic systems on company owned equipment Repair, on a minor and/or emergency basis, parts of bodies, e.g., doors, landing gear, etc. Repair all company forklifts Make road calls on disabled company vehicles and perform minor repairs on the road Perform preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis as determined by the Fleet Supervisor Inspect vehicle (during P.M. inspection) to ensure all D.O.T. requirements are met Repair all items not meeting D.O.T. requirements; inform supervisor if not immediately repairable Perform other tasks/projects as instructed by Fleet Supervisor including but not limited to delivering trucks to and from other branch locations and picking up parts Adhere to strict safe working practices, company policies, rules, regulations, correct obvious hazards immediately or report to supervisor if not immediately correctable Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent Automotive/Mechanical Trade or Vocational certification preferred 2+ years of Diesel/Automotive Technician experience Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements In person travel within the service territories of Silver Eagle required Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude Must supply automotive hand tools (not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools) 3+ ASE certifications Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude Must be able to safely operate a pallet jack, electric forklift/pallet-jack repair experience preferred Able to obtain and maintain Class C or A-CDL, and medical card Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and driving record within MVR policy guidelines Must have the ability to operate both manual and standard transmissions Physical Requirements: Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus) Frequent climbing, pushing, pulling and maneuvering dolly, hand truck, bay roll up doors, straps, curb ramps, truck doors, boxes, cases, kegs, truck gear shift Ability to enter and exit the driver's compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normally available footholds and handholds Must regularly lift and move up to 100 lbs Pushing/pulling: up to 100 lbs force for turning wrenches, pulling out parts Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to inspect and/or wash vehicles Ability to communicate verbally and in writing Ability to hear voice commands in areas with a high level of background noise Ability to demonstrate or learn to safely handle large trucks in a critically safe and precise manner within very constrained and compact areas The Perks: Competitive compensation with access to on-demand pay A full range of benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance 401(k) with a company match Paid time off, paid holidays, and paid parental leave Annual tool reimbursement program Tuition reimbursement program Career development training On-site gym facilities Free beer and beverage gifts throughout the year Pre-Employment Screening: Drug test and background screen required All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. #J-18808-Ljbffr Silver Eagle Distributors Houston
