About the Role
Our staffing firm is partnering with a growing construction company in the Apple Valley area to identify an experienced Financial Controller.


This is a high-impact leadership role for a finance professional who can bring both strong day-to-day accounting expertise and forward-thinking financial insight. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing core accounting operations, leading a small team, and helping the business improve processes, strengthen forecasting, and navigate financial challenges with confidence and professionalism. Job Description
The Financial Controller will oversee the company's accounting and financial operations while managing a team of 2-3 employees. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting payroll processes, and providing strategic financial guidance to leadership.
Key responsibilities include:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger activity, accounts payable, and financial reporting
• Manage payables and help ensure timely, accurate processing
• Lead and support a small accounting team, providing direction, accountability, and coaching
• Develop projections, financial insights, and reporting that support better business decisions
• Apply cost accounting principles to better understand profitability, project performance, and operational trends
• Help address cash flow and collections challenges, including situations where insurance payments are issued to homeowners before restoration funds are collected
• Partner with leadership to improve processes, strengthen financial visibility, and support business planning
• Respond confidently to questions or pushback from internal stakeholders while maintaining financial integrity and accountability

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
• Prior experience managing or supervising a team
• Strong background in financial reporting, general accounting, accounts payable, and month-end close
• Experience with cost accounting and WIP is highly preferred
• Ability to identify process improvements and think strategically beyond daily transactional work

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in construction, home services, contracting, or other project-based service environments
• Experience working in a small to mid-sized business environment
